PORTALND, Maine – A Texas man will serve 11 years in prison for the sextortion of Maine children.

On Wednesday, a judge sentenced Juan Jose Torres, 27, to 11 years in jail and seven years of supervised release for compulsion and inducement of a juvenile.

According to court records, the father of one of the victims contacted law authorities in December 2021 after learning that their child had transmitted sexually explicit photographs and videos to someone they had met on Instagram.

According to the Department of Justice, the victim and another kid, both in their early teens, were pressured into generating and sharing graphic and sexually explicit images of themselves to Torres.

If the victims hesitated, Torres allegedly threatened to kill himself or share the photographs online if they refused.

When he was arrested in February 2023, Torres reportedly told investigators that he was “just having fun” and that he threatened the young victims because he “liked the attention from them.”
