Some areas of Maine have developed into gastronomic hotspots for foodies in the past ten or more years. Many of the eateries that have been highlighted in the spotlight have drawn visitors to Vacationland expressly so they can test them out.
However, practically none of those well-known eateries are steakhouses. Rather of creating its own steakhouses, Maine has depended on franchises to meet the needs of people who like a decent steak and potatoes dish.
Numerous chains of steakhouses have come and gone over the years. From York Steakhouse, to the renowned Bonanza chain, and finally, an abortive attempt at Outback Steakhouse. Not all chains have found success in Maine.
However, some have managed to get traction. In all of Maine, Texas Roadhouse and Longhorn Steakhouse remain two of the most well-liked franchise restaurants. In addition, they are two of the most well-known steakhouse brands in the country. However, none are THE most well-liked.
According to Tasting Table,, Maine does not have a single location of the most popular steakhouse chain in America. That would be the Capital Grille, a chain of purposefully upscale steakhouses with 75 locations nationwide.
Both Texas Roadhouse and Longhorn serve essentially simple steak dishes with little flair. The menu at Capital Grille showcases the elevated elegance of several of their dishes. There is a whole area of “chef recommended” items in there.
Although Capital Grille hasn’t made its way to Maine yet, it does run four eateries in the area. With four sites in Massachusetts, Capital Grille is considering prospective northeastern growth.
