The DEA arrested 5 men for drug trafficking in Maine

Five men were detained as part of a drug trafficking operation conducted by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Agents conducted repeated controlled purchases of fentanyl and crack, and three search warrants were executed at various locations over several days.

Two guys were arrested at 754 Pool Street in Biddeford on Tuesday. Drugs, drug trafficking items, and drug money were confiscated.

Police accused Derrel Brunson, 32, of New York, and Donald Newton, 53, of Biddeford, with aggravated fentanyl trafficking. Newton was also charged with conspiring to traffic in fentanyl.

The next day, investigators detained Biddeford resident Matthew Plante, 39, at his home on 14 Center Street. Drugs and evidence of drug trafficking have been seized. He was charged with aggravated drug trafficking in crack.

Two more men were detained Thursday on 29 Mountain View Lane in Lyman. Drugs and firearms were seized.

Police arrested Christopher Powers-Burns, 41, of Lyman, and Paul Kastberg, 38, of Alfred. Powers-Burns faces charges of fentanyl trafficking and warrants. Kastberg was wanted on several warrants.

More charges are expected. The investigation remains open.
