There are a lot of great agricultural shows in Maine, but one stands out.
It is the state’s biggest fair and the last one of the fair season in Maine. It is also known as the “Blue Ribbon Classic.”
In the early 1850s, a group of farmers in Western Maine got together to show off their crops and animals. This was the start of the fair. The famous show has grown since then and now takes up 185 acres and has more than 100 buildings.
It is a traditional Maine agricultural fair, and the Fryeburg Fair lets farmers and artists in the area show off their goods. The fair also has a huge midway, dozens of food booths, and entertainment every night.
Except for 2020, the fair has become a well-known part of Maine’s fall. Many more than 225,000 people go to the fair every year.
This year’s fair will run from September 29th through October 6th.
A Big Change at This Year’s Fryeburg Fair
According to a post on the Fryeburg Fair Facebook page, there will be big changes at the fair gates in 2024: metal detectors will be there.
Metal detectors will be used at the fair to make sure that all of the hundreds of thousands of people who will be there are safe. Even though they haven’t said for sure, we think that people will have to go through metal detectors to get into the fairs.
That being said, we were a little surprised by this news. A lot of us have always thought that the fair was a safe place where we didn’t have to worry about getting hurt. But with the way things are in the world these days, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
At the gate, you don’t want to have to wait, so you should check your thing before you leave your car. This does, of course, mean leaving guns and knives in your car. To be safe, you might want to carry less metal in your pockets, like keys, cash, commemorative belt buckles, matchbox cars, etc., since we don’t know how sensitive the metal scanners will be.
Some of the best things at the 2024 Fryeburg Fair will be a performance by the Mallett Brothers Band, a salute to Garth Brooks, and a performance by country singer Josh Turner.
