Driver of SUV dies in collision with train in Dunn County.

ELK MOUND, Wisconsin- We have an update on the two-week-old crash involving a train and an SUV in Dunn County, as the SUV driver has died.

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office reported that 80-year-old Gregory Nerbovig of Eau Claire died as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash on Monday (12/23/24).

The crash occurred on December 12th. Nerbovig failed to yield to a train at the intersection of Highway 12 and 970th Street near Elk Mound.

He was airlifted to a hospital. Two children in the vehicle were also transported to the hospital.
