To capitalise on the momentum of their recent three-game winning run, the Carthage Tigers, who have a record of 16-8, travelled to Carl Junction to compete against the Bulldogs, who have a record of 9-8.
After suffering a defeat at the hands of Bolivar, Carl Junction entered the afternoon with the intention of climbing back into the win column.
Nevertheless, the Tigers offence came out strong to get things started off on the right foot. In the opening inning of the game, Ali Wicklund was the first player to secure a base hit.
Addie Wallace, who was in the final stretch of the game, joined the celebration for Carthage as she connected with a shot that went into left centre field.
During this process, she drove in two runners, which allowed the Tigers to take an early lead at 1-0. However, Kinley Spindler of Carl Junctions dived to catch the hit.
After the top of the first inning came to a conclusion, the Bulldogs attempted to get the bats going by having Madi Olds hit a single into right field. This would allow Jazmyne Blaney to score and move a runner to third base.
It was none other than Spindler once more, making plays both in the field and behind the plate, with the intention of continuing to ride the momentum.
After that, she would give Carl Junction an early 4-1 lead by roping a shot into left field and sending two runs home. This would give Carl Junction the lead.
In spite of the fact that they came dangerously close to squandering their lead heading into the final minutes of the game, the Bulldogs were able to secure an 8-7 triumph.
Carthage will play host to Neosho on October 1 at 5:00 p.m., while Carl Junction will travel to Marshfield on October 3 at 4:30 p.m. The event will take place on October 3.
