On September 25, 2024, on South Main Street in Joplin, the driver of a motorbike that was involved in an accident that resulted in the death of a female passenger has been charged in connection with her passing.
In the court of Newton County, Andrew Brill is charged with the following offences:
- Felony DWI – Death of another
- Felony Armed Criminal Action

Although he claimed that he had nothing to drink, he refused to give a blood sample to the police who were present in the hospital. However, the court file revealed that more than three agencies were able to detect the presence of intoxicants.
Following the acquisition of a search warrant, the blood was collected and transported to the crime laboratory associated with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. An alcohol content of 0.12 was found in Brill’s blood.
According to the documents filed with the court, he was driving a Harley Davidson from 2012 at 77 miles per hour in a zone that allowed just 45 miles per hour.
Brill has not yet been taken into custody. It is reported that he is still being treated for the significant injuries he sustained in the accident.
“On 09/25/2024, I was dispatched to the area or 44th and S Main St, ln reference to an unknown injury crash. While responding, dispatch advised that Fire personnel arrived on scene and located (V1) deceased from injuries received from the crash. Andrew Brill was operating a 2012 Harley Davidson Road Glide about 77 mile’s per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone, striking the rear of a Toyota 4runner, causing the Toyota to do a 360 turn ln the roadway. (V1) was the passenger of the motorcycle and was ejected from the motorcycle during the crash. EMS advised that Brill smelled or intoxicants and was transported to Mercy Hospital. Fire personnel removed a loaded handgun from Brlll’s person before being placed in the ambulance. (V2) advised that she observed the Harley going from lane to lane before striking the Toyota. I responded to Mercy hospital where I contacted Brill, He said that he did not consume any alcohol and that he was coming from Club 609. I noticed mat his eyes were bloodshot and watery and could smell intoxicants coming from his breath. Brill refused to provide a blood sample. I obtained a Search Warrant for the blood that was drawn and got a Subpoena for medical records. Once obtained, I served both to Mercy Hospital and seized the blood and sent it to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime lab for blood analysis. I reviewed the Medical Records where I discovered that Brill’s Blood Alcohol Content was 0.12 . I believe that Brill operated a dangerous instrument (Motorcycle) in a careless and imprudent manner, while in an intoxicated condition, which resulted in death of a passenger on the motorcycle. After reviewing his criminal history, I located one DWI arrest from 2003, and one from 2023 that is still on going.” – Joplin Police Investigator
