The guy who was found dead hanging from a tree in a Bronx park last month is an immigrant who is thought to have raped a family member several times, police sources told The Post on Thursday.
Manuel Delgado, 43, sought asylum from Peru and had lived in the city for less than a year. He is thought to have killed himself in Pelham Bay Park on October 9 after his family learned of his claimed relationship with the teen and told the police, according to sources.
The sources say that detectives told the girl to call Delgado while the call was being recorded.
During the call, the girl allegedly told Delgado she was going to call the police. However, he allegedly told her he wanted to meet her at “the place where we used to go,” which was very rude.
Sources say that he killed himself when he got to the place, which was a wooded area at Orchard Beach Road and Bartow Circle.
Sources say that around 1:30 p.m., he was found hanging from a tree with cuts on his left wrist, neck, and stomach. A 9mm shell casing was also found nearby.
Sources say the man’s friend told police that the victim texted him before the crime and said he had stabbed himself.
Sources say that Delgado’s claimed sex crimes have been going on for years, even before the family moved to New York.
He was never charged with the horrible crimes before he died.
