Every single one of the transmission lines that span the distance between Cardinal and Hickory Creek has been completed and is now completely operational.
This transmission line, which begins in Dubuque County, Iowa, and terminates in Dane County, Wisconsin, spans a distance of 102 miles and connects the two counties.
The building of the Cardinal-Hickory Creek Transmission Line project started in the year 2021 and continued until the year 2022.
In addition to ITC Midwest, Dairyland Cooperative, and American Transmission Company, there are three more firms that jointly own the line.
A significant amount of attention was paid to the project as a result of the fact that one mile of the line goes through the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, which is located in close proximity to Cassville.
In the end, the line was permitted to be constructed through the preserve, despite the fact that there was a legal struggle that lasted for years and involved a number of different conservation interest groups.
