MENOMONIE, Wisconsin – A candlelight gathering will be held on January 1 for a Correctional Officer who was killed in a traffic accident on December 24.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the collision occurred on U.S. 12 at County Highway E in Dunn County near Menomonie around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
One of the drivers, later identified as Dunn County Correctional Officer Jeff Reynolds, was declared dead on the scene. Four other people were injured.
According to the criminal complaint, a deputy was at the County Highway E intersection when he noticed a northbound vehicle on County Highway E south of the intersection speeding and failing to stop at the stop sign, resulting in a collision with a westbound vehicle on Highway 12/29.
According to the press release, the event will start at 6:30 p.m. outside the Dunn County Judicial Center, which is located at 615 Stokke Pkwy, Menomonie, WI 54751. A moment of silence and reading will begin around 6:45 p.m.
