A 12-Year-Old Boy Saved His Dad From a Bear Attack

At the age of 43, Ryan Beierman was mauled by a bear; nevertheless, he was able to survive the attack because of the prompt and accurate actions of his son, Owen, who is 12 years old.

While the father from River Falls, Wisconsin and his son were hunting in the vicinity of their cabin in western Wisconsin, the injured black bear attacked the man during their hunt.

In an interview with the Minnesota Star Tribune, Beierman stated that he “clearly remembers the bear’s hot breath as its fangs dug into his forehead.”

“I was fighting for my life, and the bear was fighting for its life,” Beierman added. “I was fighting for mine.”

Owen Beierman did not only wait around after the bear pounced on his father and pinned him beneath it. He took action.

If the little son, who was only 12 years old at the time, had his wits about him, he would have been able to use his hunting gun to kill the bear, thereby save his father from losing his life.

As reported by the Minnesota Star Tribune, the black bear weighed approximately 200 pounds.

A severe cut appeared on the cheek of the older Beierman, in addition to other wounds that were found on his face, arm, and leg as a result of the incident.
