High-speed chase ends at a tire shop when police deploy stop sticks

Quapaw, Okla. — A high-speed chase that began in Joplin finishes, strangely, at a tire business in Quapaw, where police used stop sticks to deflate the vehicle’s tires.

The guys at Karnes Pro-Tire and Auto felt they had a new customer when this red SUV arrived with two flat tires.

However, they were surprised when over ten officers sped in behind the vehicle, thinking it was the end of a high-speed chase.

Authorities said the individual is suspected of robbery and that the vehicle was stolen.

The chase continued down I-44, exiting at mile marker one, just before the Oklahoma state line.

They drove into Baxter Springs and continued south, halting just inside Oklahoma at Karnes.

Witnesses observed as the guy argued with officers before fleeing into the shop.

Officers moved quickly, apprehending the culprit.
