Hampton Bays, New York — Three persons were apprehended during a Thanksgiving Eve sobriety checkpoint in Hampton Bays, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, a DWI crackdown took place on Flanders Road in Hampton Bays on Wednesday between 8:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m., with motorists being screened for symptoms of impairment.
Officers investigated almost 1,000 vehicles and arrested three drivers who were detected driving under the influence, including, according to police:
– Oswald Espinoza-Mogrovejo, 46, of Hampton Bays, was arrested and charged with misdemeanour driving while intoxicated.
– Roberto Granados-Sanchez, 38, of Flanders, was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor DWI.
– Daniel R. McNamara, 33, of Hampton Bays, was detained and charged with driving while impaired by narcotics, a misdemeanor, according to police.
“The Southampton Town Police would like to thank everyone who elected to drive sober. We would also like to thank all of the inebriated and/or impaired passengers we saw who elected to use a ride-sharing service or select a driver,” officials stated. “Together, we can all make a difference in helping to prevent tragedy this holiday season.”
