The event occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, in Dix Hills.
Suffolk County Police said officers responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing at 2 Carman Court.
When they arrived, they discovered Josephine Bekatoros, 84, dead from stab wounds inside the home, according to authorities.
Detectives later detained the victim’s daughter, 51-year-old Diana Bekatoros, at her Long Island City residence.
She has been charged with second-degree murder and will be arraigned on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, in First District Court in Central Islip.
