WACO Vaults Easton Valley for Football Victory

On Friday night, the WACO Warriors defeated Easton Valley in a football game that they played away from home. The final score was 44-15.

With a touchdown run of 73 yards, senior running back Louden Huisenga of WACO got things rolling. He nearly ran the entire length of the field unassisted, which was a significant accomplishment.

Junior Trey Edeker completed the subsequent scoring drive for the Warriors with a one-yard plunge across the goal line.

Additionally, sophomore Hayden Shelman made a significant play on special teams by returning a punt 42 yards for a touchdown. Both of these plays contributed to the Warriors’ success.

The senior quarterback Clayton Miller would score a touchdown on a rush of 16 yards, putting WACO in the lead 28-7 going into halftime. Huisenga would then expand the advantage with a touchdown run of 10 yards in the third quarter.

Edeker converted one of his four sacks into a safety, and senior Isaac Rich scored a touchdown on a ball from Miller that went for 21 yards.

This brought the total number of points scored by the Warriors to four. In the final moments of the game, the kid finished with a total of eight and a half tackles, including 5.5 tackles for loss on defence.

Not only did Huisenga have the most tackles of any player on the squad, but he also recorded 133 yards rushing on 13 runs for the offence. As WACO improves its record to 5-1, Rich was able to catch five of the six passes that Miller completed for a total of 107 yards receiving.

In their next game, which will take place this coming Friday against New London, the Warriors will return to district play.
