Video shows Greene County deputies searching for suspect in Springfield neighborhood who fled from a traffic stop

This is SPRINGFIELD, MO (KY3). A man from Bolivar was caught after leading officers from Greene County on a chase on Friday afternoon.

In the early afternoon on Friday, deputies from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office tried to pull over a man at a Fast ‘N’ Friendly store near where Sunshine Street and West Bypass meet.

The suspect didn’t stop for the police, so they had to chase him for a short time. Then, officers from Greene County set up a perimeter around Seminole Street and Manley Drive in the neighborhood.

A person who lives in the area gave KY3 a video of the suspect’s abandoned car with Greene County officers and a K9 unit searching through her backyard.

Tony Harris, who was 44 years old, was caught soon after. He was arrested on charges connected to the incident, but he is also being held on charges in Polk County and Lawrence County.

Lawrence County court records show that Harris was given five years of probation in 2023 for driving while his license was suspended or canceled. He also broke the terms of his probation, which is shown in court records, and a warrant was issued in July.

In August, a judge in Lawrence County put Harris on hold while the court made another decision. The warrant was still valid.

Harris is also being charged in Polk County with having a controlled drug on him and driving on the highway without a ticket. He is due in court on September 13 to answer to those claims.

Harris is locked up in the Greene County Jail.
