UW-Stout students help pack more than 50,000 meals

On Tuesday, college students from the University of Wisconsin–Stout assisted with the packaging of more than 50,000 meals.

The annual meal pack-a-thon provides assistance to families and students in the surrounding area that are struggling financially.

In the fourth year of the Pack-A-Thon, the University of Wisconsin–Stout has collaborated with the Menomonie Rotary Club.

For over a decade, the Rotary Club has been providing assistance to provide meals to neighbors who are struggling with food insecurity.

“We have 216 meals in each box,” said Sue Traxler, who works for the Menomonie Rotary Club and the University of Wisconsin–Stout.

The capacity of each box is 36 bags, and each bag contains six parts. Consequently, that may be equivalent to providing meals for thirty-six households with each package.

A total of approximately 345 students, staff members, and members of the community took the time to pack thousands of meals, which will be given to food pantries in the Dunn County neighborhood.
