SILVERADO DANCE CLUB

Our friend Erica Lee sent us a picture earlier this week that showed how sad she was that the long-running club Silverado was closing down for good.

As we drove by, I almost broke down in tears. I always hoped that someone would open it up again.

People loved going to the club for more than 10 years. It was the height of country line dancing in the Joplin area. For a few years, there was a fake Facebook page.

Silverado shut down around the end of 2013. It was run as J-Town for an unknown amount of time after that. It looks like it was taken down earlier this week.

“My band Crossfire played there A LOT!” Let Erica text us. As a child, my dad’s band played there, and my whole family would dance there. Bob DeGonia played with my sister’s band and my cousin Brian Barnard. It brought back so many memories.

DANA’S BO PEEP, “Dancing Nightly”

It used to be called Dana’s Bo Peep, “Dancing Nightly, mixed drinks and cold beer,” according to a name on an old matchbook we found on eBay.
