The Moyers are moving in — thanks to Habitat for Humanity

On Tuesday, September 17, Shea Moyer, an Army soldier, got the keys to his new home in River Falls from St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity.

At the dedication event on Tuesday. Our Savior’s Lutheran Church (Stillwater, Minn.) Pastor John Lestock (also a board member) led the group of people who were happy to see them.

They were joined by River Falls City Administrator Scot Simpson, Gina Moe-Knutson of WESTconsin Realty and SCVHFH Board President, Clark Schroeder, SCVHFH Board Vice President, and members of River Falls American Legion Post 121.

According to the River Falls Journal, the faith-based group put the modular home in place this summer and told Sara Rodriguez, Wisconsin’s Lieutenant Governor, about their work.

Simpson said, “Great projects need great partnerships, and the city is proud to be a small part of one of the great partnerships for SCVHFH that will make this project a reality.”

A home with two bedrooms, one bathroom, a crawl space, and a single-car garage will be built along Apollo Road for Moyer and his two kids. The house is 980 square feet.

“We’ll keep laying the strong foundation that this house is built on.” We’re going to make it our home. “We want to thank everyone who made today possible,” Moyer told the people at the party.

The work continues for SCVHFH as they are now accepting applications for their next build in New Richmond. The application deadline is Friday, Oct. 11. SCVHFH can be contacted at 715-350-8575 or info@scvhabitat.org.
