As of October 9, 16, or 23, people with disabilities in the United States may get money from Social Security. This month, some people got their SSDI check or direct deposit on October 3. Their next payment won’t come until November 1, 2024.
People who get SSDI and want the up to $3,822 payment on October 9 must have been born between January 1 and October 10 of any month. Disability insurance payments are only given to people who asked for them and were approved. This October Wednesday payment is not for people who are also on SSI.
SSDI payments after October 9
Just so you know, these last three October checks are not for people who started getting Social Security before May 1997. The people who can get the October 16 check from SSDI were born between October 11th and October 20th.
If you were born after the 20th of any month, Social Security will send you your next Disability Insurance payment on October 23. Yes, as long as you weren’t eligible for the payment on October 3.
As for the most money that SSDI users could get, it was $3,822. Most people can expect an average payment instead of the maximum amount, which is about $1,539 per month. This will depend on a lot of things, like your work experience, how much money you make, and your filing age.
SSDI and the 2025 COLA
On October 10, people who get Social Security Disability Insurance will find out the amount of the 2025 COLA raise. The Bureau of Labor Statistics will bring out the September CPI-W at that time.
The number for inflation will be used by SSA to figure out the COLA increase for retirement, SSDI, and SSI payments in 2025. Actually, people who get disability won’t get the extra money from Disability Insurance until they get their January check or direct deposit.
The Senior Citizens League’s view is the most up-to-date and accurate. They say it will be about 2.5%, which is less than what it was in 2024, 2023, or even 2022. Something that was worth $1,000 in 2024 will be worth $1,025 in 2025.
