SSDI payment schedule with the 2025 COLA increase checks of up to $4,018

Just so you know, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will not send any COLA-added SSDI benefits until January 2025. This means that there are more than two months left to get this raise.

If you are already making plans for your spending for 2025, you might be interested to know that the way Social Security pays SSDI recipients has not changed at all.

First SSDI check or direct deposit in 2025

Two groups of people who are qualified for Social Security Disability Insurance will get payments on January 3, 2025. So, the rest of the people who get disability benefits will have to wait until at least next week to get their monthly payment.

  • Disability Insurance beneficiaries who got their first payment before May 1997
  • SSI recipients who are also getting SSDI payments

On the third, these two groups of disabled workers will get their money from Social Security. It will also pay off three more times in January 2025.

Wednesday round of SSDI payments

Some people who get Disability Insurance won’t get their money until January 8. In this case, they need to meet the birthday requirement. If you were born between January 1 and 10, that’s before January 11, so your pay day with the wage increase will be January 8.

If someone doesn’t qualify for the disability payment on January 8, they may get a check or direct deposit on January 15 with a cash flow boost. So, they had to be born between November 11th and December 20th.

In January 2025, the last payment for people who get SSDI will be on Wednesday, January 22. If you were born after the 20th, this is your pay day. If your birthday is between July 21 and December 31, 2025, you will be the last group to get the COLA raise.

Social Security has stated that in 2025, the average payment for people who get SSDI will be $1,580. The new COLA raise means that this disability payment will go up by 2.5%, from $1,542 to $1,552.
