In October, Disability Insurance benefits will still be coming in. People who started getting SSDI payments after April 30, 1997, and whose birthday is between November 11 and October 16 get paid that day.

SSDI payment for October 23 without the 2025 COLA
The 2025 COLA rise will not be part of any SSDI payments in 2024. People who get disability insurance will have to wait until January to get this boost. To get cash on October 23:
- Disability Insurance beneficiaries must have been on benefits after April 30, 1997
- their birth date must be from 21-31
- they must remain eligible and continue having a qualifying disability
If you are receiving SSI in addition to SSDI, please note that your next payment is scheduled for November 1. Therefore, you will obtain SSI and Disability Insurance on the same payday next month. Social Security should issue the payment on the third in advance, as it coincides with the weekend.
SSDI amounts without the 2025 COLA
In October, the maximum amount for both SSDI checks and direct deposits will be identical. In 2024, recipients of Disability Insurance can receive maximum payments reaching $3,822.
The average SSDI payment is approximately $1,539, as of August 2024. This figure is likely to align more closely with what most recipients receive, as only a small number qualify for the maximum Social Security Disability Insurance payment.
Following the COLA increase in 2025, effective January 3, the average payment is expected to be approximately $1,577. If you receive $1,000 in 2024, your Disability Insurance payment will be approximately $1,025 in 2025.
Individuals receiving a payment of $500 per month in 2024 will see that amount increase to approximately $512 in 2025. In this situation, you might also be eligible for Supplemental Security Income, so it is recommended to inquire at your local SSA office about your eligibility.
