Have you ever thought about how smart our state is?
We’re proud of the fact that our country is the best at everything, but not every state is as smart as its neighbours.
An index made by Saturday Night Science shows which states have the highest percentages of people who don’t have a high school diploma or a college degree.
How does Maine fit into all of this?
Maine is not the “dumbest state” in America, which is a surprise. Thank goodness.
The list of the 50 dumbest states puts us at number 41. When you look at other states, we are in a much better group. Maine does have some problems, but our school system is working very well.
Let’s look at the person at the top of this list of bad people.
It says that Nevada, Mississippi, Arkansas, New Mexico, Alabama, Louisiana, West Virginia, Kentucky, Texas, and Tennessee are the ten dumbest places in the country.
Maine’s attempts to raise the number of people who can read and write and make college more accessible show that it cares about education.
Maine is not one of the ten dumbest states, which makes me feel so much better!
Even though people joke that Maine is so far north, it’s nice to know that the state is known for its dedication to education and easy access to it.
The government has been working hard on programmes that help people go to college and improve their skills.
