Russian President Vladimir Putin gave a stark warning to the West about the dangers of nuclear catastrophe if it sends soldiers into Ukraine. In his last State of the Union address, Putin said that NATO and the United States were prepared to “strike Russian territory,” alluding to prospective American targets.
Putin stated, “They must realise that we have weapons capable of hitting targets on their territory.” All of this poses a serious threat to a battle involving the deployment of nuclear weapons and the annihilation of civilisation. “Don’t they get it?”
During the present Ukraine issue, Putin has already threatened Western nations with nuclear weapons. He also announced the nearing deployment readiness of Russia’s next enormous missile, the RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, ominously called Satan-II in the Russian military arsenal.
This gigantic weapon, standing at an intimidating 116 feet and weighing 220 tonnes, is said to be capable of reaching targets 6,200 to 11,180 miles away.
As global fears grow, a map has emerged showing 14 key places in the United States that could be vulnerable to a Russian nuclear attack.
The Pentagon, based in Arlington, Virginia, is regarded as the core of America’s defence structure, with Naval Station Norfolk following on the list.
“They must understand that we have weapons that can strike targets on their land. All of this poses a serious threat to a battle involving the deployment of nuclear weapons and the annihilation of civilisation. “Don’t they get it?”
Norfolk, Virginia is home to the largest Navy facility in the United States in the world, with an impressive average of almost 300 air operations each day, totalling approximately 100,000 every year. Another notable location is Comfort Suites Kings Bay Naval Base Area in Camden County, Georgia, which serves as a hub for the US Navy.
Barksdale Air Force Base, located in Bossier Parish, Louisiana, houses the United States’ 2nd Bomb Wing. The US B-2 Spirit bomber, a big strategic bomber, is stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, Missouri.
Another potential target is the US Strategic Command, which is in charge of nuclear deterrent and cyber defence. The VLF Array Lualualei facility in Hawaii sends military orders to submarines operating underwater.
Kirtland Air Force Base, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is home to the Air Force Materiel Command’s Nuclear Weapons Centre. The 21st Force Support Squadron, which is part of the United States Space Force, is headquartered at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado.
Warren Air Force Base is also an important location.
Warren Air Force Base, located in Cheyenne, Wyoming, is one of three strategic missile installations. Minot Air Force Base, located in Minot, North Dakota, serves as the operational headquarters for the United States’ 5th Bomb Wing, which is in charge of maintaining and operating B-52H bombers.
Hill Air Force Base, located in Davis County, Utah, is home to the Air Force Materiel Command and contains a wide range of military technologies, including missiles and aircraft. Malmstrom Air Force Base, located in Cascade County, Montana, houses the 341st Missile Wing, an intercontinental missile unit.
Naval Radio Station Jim Creek, located near Oso, Washington, primarily handles one-way communications with submarines. Despite the Kremlin’s vague threats of nuclear Armageddon, Russian State TV once identified probable targets in the United States.
In 2019, host Dmitry Kiselyov listed several of these targets, including two locations that have since closed: Fort Ritchie, a military training centre in Maryland that closed in 1998, and McClellan, a US Air Force post in California that shut down in 2001. Kiselyov also listed Camp David, a presidential retreat in Frederick County, Maryland, as a potential target.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg issued a stark warning to Putin last year, stressing firmly that a nuclear fight “can never be won.”
He made the argument: “Russia must know that a nuclear war can never be won and must never be fought.”
