As a result of the authorities catching up with the person they suspect to be responsible for the theft, the owner of a vehicle that was taken from the Freshie’s Store in Milford on Friday evening was able to get the vehicle back.
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said that just before 8 o’clock on Friday evening, dispatchers and the Penobscot County Regional Communications Centre received a call informing them that the vehicle had vanished without a trace.
The person who filed the complaint was not sure which way the vehicle was going to proceed. Attempts were made by deputies to locate the vehicle once they arrived at the scene.
Shortly after that, deputies discovered the vehicle on Main Road in Greenbush and brought it to a stop shortly after that. The suspect stepped out of the vehicle and was subsequently taken into custody.
According to the Sheriff’s office, the vehicle was stolen by Jerry Ford, who is 41 years old and is from Milford. When they state that Ford removed the vehicle, it just so happens that the owner’s weapon and rifle were also in the vehicle where they were found.
According to the authorities, Ford is not permitted to carry firearms. As a result, Ford was not only arrested and charged with Theft by Unauthorized Taking, but he was also charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.
These two offences are considered to be felonies. Ford is also being charged with Operating after Suspension, which is a misdemeanor, because his license has been suspended. His license has been suspended.
