Police in Yaphank, Long Island, say a judge died in a motorbike accident on Sunday night.
Suffolk County police say that at just after 5:30 p.m., Dawn Jimenez-Salta, 60, was sitting on the back of a 2007 Harley-Davidson that crashed into a car on the Long Island Expressway.
The bike and a Lexus crashed near Exit 68, cops said. The Lexus then slammed into an Audi.
Frederick Fischer, 65, of Bay Shore, was driving the Harley and was badly hurt. He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital.
Jimenez-Salta was taken to Patchogue’s Long Island Community Hospital, but she did not make it.
The crash didn’t hurt anyone else, though.
People born and raised in Brooklyn gave Jimenez-Salta her first job on the Kings County Housing Court in 1999.
Someone from the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office told the local news site Patch, “The tragic death of Nassau County Supreme Court Justice Dawn Jimenez breaks our hearts.”
“Justice Jimenez worked hard for the people of New York City and Long Island, and she always upheld the values of fairness and justice in her job.” During this hard time, our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and coworkers.
