According to the Suffolk Police Street Takeover Task Force, two men were arrested on Saturday for participating in an illegal speed contest on the Long Island Expressway.
Authorities say the incident happened around 8:45 a.m. near Exit 58 in Islandia. The drivers were allegedly weaving in and out of traffic at over 100 mph while driving east.
Officers say they were able to safely stop Dean Carfora of Lloyd Harbor and Matthew Famighette of West Babylon. Police seized both of their Mercedes sedans. The two suspects are set to be arraigned later in January.
