PC EDC welcomes new Executive Director

ELLSWORTH, WI – Lauren High fill has been hired as the new Executive Director of the Pierce County Economic Development Corporation (PC EDC).

Lauren used to work for the city of West Concord in Minnesota as the City Clerk and Treasurer. Now she is at the EDC.

During that time, she worked closely with people in the community, companies, and city leaders to help make the most of strategies and get rid of things that were getting in the way of economic growth.

Lauren has worked in New Orleans, Louisiana, before. She did work for a private company managing projects and doing law research, and she also helped the Red Cross with disaster recovery.

Nate Boettcher, Chair of the EDC Board, said, “Lauren’s wide range of experience in supporting and building strong relationships is an important part of the EDC’s work.”

As Joe Folsom, the current EDC Executive Director, has announced his retirement, Lauren joins the EDC at a time of change. Over the past seven years, Joe has been a key part of running the EDC. We appreciate how hard Joe works and how he runs the PC EDC.

During his time, Joe helped fund a lot of county-wide projects, such as expanding internet access and tourism.

He worked with a number of businesses in the area to make succession plans, and most recently he was in charge of starting a housing company whose job it is to build more housing for workers.

In the next couple of months, Joe will start making the change to full retirement, but he will still be an advocate for programs that help rural areas grow.

On September 3, 2024, Lauren will start working for the PC EDC. Lauren said, “Being a part of the community, supporting our local businesses, and looking for new ways to help our county grow is both personally and professionally exciting for me.”

Pierce County has one of the most rapid rates of growth in Wisconsin.

“With Lauren joining the EDC, we have a great chance to not only make Pierce County a great place to live and visit, but we will also set up the right tools and processes to encourage more business growth in our region. This will give our residents more services and create good-paying jobs.”
