A shooting early Sunday morning at a Halloween party in Bella Vista killed a teenager. Five other people were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
A person was shot at a house in the 21000 block of Highway 299 East at 1:10 a.m., according to a statement from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office released Sunday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office says that when police arrived, they saw that there had been a big Halloween party with drinking by people under the age of 21. They found the 18-year-old male victim dead and five other people who were hurt but were later treated.
Deputy sheriffs arrested three people on suspicion of fighting or getting in the way of a police officer. They also found a person who might have been involved in the killing and talked to them.
According to the news release, it’s not clear if the 18-year-old was shot or what kind of injuries the five other adults had. The sheriff’s office told the people that there is no danger to their safety.
The teen who died’s name wasn’t released by the sheriff’s office until the coroner’s office found family or next of kin and told them. Also, police did not say the names of the people who were taken, and they said they are still looking into what happened before the shooting.
Many people who were at the party left before the cops got to the house.
