NYPD A man is charged after a 15-year-old child was shot on the Concourse subway platform

According to police, a 15-year-old teenager was shot Saturday while on the train platform at East 167th Street and River Avenue in Concourse.

Police said the incident occurred around 10 p.m. on the southbound 4 train platform.

According to News 12, the teenage victim was wounded in the right leg and sent to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in stable condition.

Police said David Ayenengoye, 20, was detained and charged with attempted murder, criminal use of a firearm, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Mohammed Hossain, who works at Super Discount Variety Store beneath the train station, says he is not surprised by the Concourse community’s gun violence.

“I’ve been here about 17 years,” explained Hossain. “I didn’t see things happening like this going on [before], but since like three or four months, it’s like happening all the time in this area.”

As of Sunday evening, no details regarding what led up to the shooting had been disclosed.
