Near Lake City, a car rolls in a ditch, injuring a man

Mount Pleasant Township, Minnesota— On Thursday, December 19, 2024, a man was injured after his vehicle rolled into a ditch on US Highway 63 near Lake City.

A 2010 GMC Yukon was traveling south on Highway 63 when it lost control and slid into the ditch near 350th Avenue, according to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report. The roads were snowy and risky.

The driver, 74-year-old Gregg Mathias Dahl of Hager City, Wisconsin, had non-life-threatening injuries. He received treatment for his injuries at the site.

The National Weather Service warned “hazardous travel” conditions throughout the morning as snow fell Thursday. From 5 a.m. to noon Thursday, the State Patrol reported 41 property damage crashes, six injury crashes, 17 vehicles off the road, and seven jackknifed semis in the Rochester district, which covers 11 counties.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Lake City Fire Department, Lake City Ambulance Service, and the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the Highway 63 crash.
