Mt.Vernon Football gets by Lamar 42-32

LAMAR, MO – A lot of people came to see the Lamar Tigers play the Mt. Vernon Mountaineers in their homecoming game.

Both teams went into the night with a 3-1 record and were looking for their fourth win of the season.

Mt. Vernon got things going when Braden Dodson pounded his way into the end zone for six points.

Cooper Haun was going the other way for Lamar. After that, he broke through several stops and pushed his way past the pylon for the Tigers’ first score of the game.

After Lamar’s hit, Haun was just getting going.

After a great kick return by Aidan Sheat, the senior running back found himself back in the red zone. Haun then scored another touchdown for Lamar.

Once more, Dodson was ready to answer. He got to the end zone in the middle of the second quarter, giving Mt. Vernon a 14–12 lead.

Last few plays, Lamar couldn’t hold on, and Mt. Vernon won 42–32.

Next week, October 4, at 7:00 p.m., Lamar will host Nevada, and Mt. Vernon will go back home to play Cassville.
