Kansas City, MO – According to authorities, the 35-year-old Missouri parent, subsequently identified as JacqueIyn, was arrested and charged with endangering a child’s welfare in the first degree, resulting in the death of a child, in connection with her child’s death.
The lady alleges she gave her child what she thought was a prescribed pain tablet, only for the woman to give the girl fentanyl. Nearly 12 hours after taking the pill, the child died.
This sad tragedy took place last month at the family’s house. The mother, who faces a life sentence with the chance of parole if found guilty, reportedly told detectives that her 14-year-old child complained of a toothache.
According to the woman, she originally gave the toddler Tylenol, which did not assist much. The mom then gave her child a tablet she discovered in her bedroom. The toddler died a few hours after swallowing the medicine.
During an interview with detectives, the lady reportedly stated that she believed she was giving her child a prescription drug that she had obtained from a previous procedure. The medical examiner informed investigators that the toddler died from a fentanyl overdose.
The woman reportedly admitted to having fentanyl in her house after exchanging some of her prescription medications with her mother ‘to shield the elder woman from the deadly narcotics she was supposedly buying on the street’.
Authorities reportedly discovered fenthanyl and other prescription narcotics in the residence where other minor children were present. The 35-year-old mother is being jailed on a $150,000 bond, with her preliminary hearing planned for December 11, 2024. If proven guilty, the 35-year-old parent may face a life sentence with the chance of parole, according to court filings.
