Mother accused of drowning daughter in tub after argument over refusal to provide teen diabetes medication

Giselle Glover was allegedly held underwater by her mother, Kelsey Glover, according to authorities.

A Florida mother was arrested and charged last week on allegations that she drowned her 14-year-old daughter.

On Wednesday, November 20, police responded to a report of a “armed disturbance” at a home in Kissimmee, Fla., and discovered 14-year-old Giselle Glover unresponsive, according to a statement from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. She was pronounced deceased at a nearby hospital.

According to the statement, emergency dispatchers were informed that a lady, later identified as Giselle’s mother Kelsey Michelle Glover, had drowned daughter and attacked the caller with knives and a hammer.

The local medical examiner determined Giselle drowned and called her death a murder.

Giselle had diabetes, and the event was allegedly caused by Kelsey’s choice to cease administering her daughter’s insulin, which sparked an altercation between Kelsey and her roommate, according to unnamed court records acquired by WFTV.

According to WFTV and FOX 35 Orlando, Giselle became severely ill after not receiving her medication. According to FOX 35 Orlando, the roommate informed investigators that Kelsey reportedly locked the youngster in a bedroom and played loud music to block out her calls for help.

Kelsey allegedly “put her daughter in the bathtub and grabbed her by the hair and held her head underwater,” according to a pretrial detention file obtained by WESH.

When the roommate attempted to intervene, Kelsey allegedly hit her with a hammer, according to officials, WFTV, FOX 35 Orlando, and WESH, citing court records.

“You never let your type 1 diabetes define you or hold you back,” her father, DJ, commented. “Instead, you turned it into something that inspired us all, showing us how to take life’s challenges and turn them into stepping stones.”

“There’s so much I’ll never get to do with you, things I had hoped for like buying your first car, spending my entire paycheck on your prom dress, walking you down the aisle, and sharing that first father-daughter dance,” he wrote in a parting letter to his daughter, which was uploaded on GoFundMe. “But I hold tight to the memories we did make, and I take comfort in knowing you were loved beyond measure.”
