Milo man sentenced to 18 years for firing firearm at his father-in-law

A Milo man received an 18-year jail sentence after pleading guilty to attempted murder.

On November 18, David Barry, 53, pleaded guilty to one count of Class A Attempted Murder in connection with his April arrest in Piscataquis County court, according to a county spokesperson.

Barry was detained on April 18 for firing a firearm at his father-in-law on Pleasant River Road. He fired until the magazine was empty before reloading; every shot missed the victim, according to a Milo Police Department investigation.

When Barry was arrested while inebriated, multiple guns were removed from the house.

All but six and a half years of his sentence have been suspended, and once served, he will be eligible for four years of conditional release.
