Milford man indicted after allegedly threatening to blow up a house

IN BANGOR – An indictment has been handed down by the Penobscot County Grand Jury against a man who was taken into custody in Milford after allegedly making a threat to blow up a residence.

 

William Abernathy, 46 years old, was accused of assaulting his girlfriend and threatening to blow up their home, according to a male victim who reported the incident to the Old Town police department in the month of July.

 

After locating the woman, law enforcement officers went to Abernathy’s residence on Call Road in Milford, with the knowledge that there were children still present inside.

 

As soon as the authorities arrived, they discovered Abernathy standing outside with a huge knife, according to the police.

 

Additionally, he acknowledged to carrying a number of other weapons on him, as stated by the security personnel.

 

It was finally determined that he had dropped the weapons; nevertheless, when the policemen stepped inside, they reported that they smelled gas and heard someone asking for assistance upstairs.

 

It was discovered that the door to the bedroom was locked from the outside, and the individuals who were inside the room were unable to escape.

 

The door to the bedroom was broken by the police, and while inside, they rescued three children and another person.

 

An extensive range of accusations, including attempted arson, criminal use of explosives, and endangering the welfare of a child, were included in the indictment that was handed down against Abernathy.
