Men from the Rochester area were killed in a crash in West Wisconsin

Authorities in western Wisconsin have identified the victims of a multi-vehicle crash last Friday as two men from the Rochester area.

According to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal accident happened just after 10:30 AM, about a mile south of Nelson and across the Mississippi River from Wabasha.

A pickup truck that crossed the centre line on Highway 35 hit the two people who were riding bikes.

Mark Holzer, 59, of Pine Island and Brian Shank, 59, of Chatfield were both killed in the crash, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The obituary for Holzer says that he and the other man were best friends.

There will be a “celebration of life” for both men on Saturday afternoon at the Winona County Fairgrounds in St. Charles, which is Holzer’s city.

The pickup truck also hit a third motorbike, but the rider got away with only minor injuries. The pickup driver wasn’t hurt.
