A woman from Maquoketa needs to pay back the more than $15,000 she stole from a store in Maquoketa.
Court records show that 43-year-old Bevan Knoebel Schroder needs to pay back the $15,085.52 she stole from the Maquoketa Country Club.
On her first-degree theft charge, the court put off a 10-year jail term and a $1,370 fine.
The Seventh Judicial District put Knoebel Schroder on probation for four years, unless the court quickly frees him for good behaviour. The court also told her she couldn’t have a gun.
From January 1, 2020, to October 4, 2023, Knoebel Schroder worked at the Maquoketa Country Club.
Charge records show that she used the club’s credit and debit cards to buy personal things without permission, racking up a total of $15,085 in charges that were not authorised.
She was charged with first-degree theft on January 19, which is a class C felony. On May 3, she pleaded guilty as part of a plea deal.
Court records show that Knoebel Schroder agreed to pay the victim back for what he did and that the state would suggest a 10-year prison sentence with three years of supervision and payment of all court costs and attorney fees.
The guilty plea from Knoebel Schroder was taken back on May 10.
She was found guilty of theft in the first degree on August 6 and given her term on September 20.
