A press statement from the Stone County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting happened Saturday night at 10:50, when police were called to a home on Nellie Lane.
Deputies found a woman who had been shot in the chest. She was taken to a hospital in Springfield to get medical care for her injuries. The story did not say her name or what was wrong with her.
After investigating and finding 20-year-old Angelo James Lumetta as a possible suspect, Barry County Deputies helped Stone County Deputies find Lumetta.
It was found near Persimmon Hill Lane and Trace Hollow Road. The Missouri Department of Conservation also helped the sheriff’s office look for the gun that was used in the killing.
More research shows that Lumetta may have been involved in a break-in at that site in the past.
A Class A Felony of Assault in the First Degree is being tried against Lumetta. He is being held in the Stone County Jail in Galena without bond.
