Maine's oldest church has been around for about 300 years

One of the benefits of living in Maine is that much of our state has remained relatively untouched for hundreds of years.

There are sites in Maine where structures have stayed unaltered, with several becoming historical landmarks and being designated to the National Register of Historic sites. One of those structures still stands in Kittery Point, Maine, and appears to be substantially identical to what it was some 300 years ago.

The First Congregational Church of Kittery Point was established in 1730, before the United States of America was founded.

Since the 18th century, there have been a few modest adjustments and enhancements, such as electricity, heating, and other modern comforts that we now take for granted. Recently, a ramp was installed at the church entrance to assist persons with mobility impairments, making it much easier for them to attend church services.

Every Christmas season, the church is decked inside to commemorate the occasion.A lot

Although I am not religious, Maine has some gorgeous cathedrals that make excellent photographic subjects.

The First Congregational Church of Kittery Point has been meticulously maintained to retain its original appearance.

Everyone is welcome to attend church services on Sunday mornings at 8 or 10 a.m. The First Congregational Church of Kittery Point is located at 23 Pepperrell Road in Kittery Point, Maine. You can also drive to see Maine’s oldest church in person.
