The woman from Peru, Maine is going to jail for 15 years because she sold methamphetamine to police officers who were not supposed to have it.
Maine Woman Sentenced for Trafficking in Methamphetamine
In a Portland courtroom, 43-year-old Mandy Lynn Shorey of Peru got her term for trafficking methamphetamine and having a gun to help with a drug crime. After the 15 years in jail, the person will be released under strict supervision for five years.
Peru Woman Sold Meth to Undercover Officers Four Times
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maine says that between July 2022 and January 2023, Shorey sold about 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine to cops who were working undercover. Three of those times, Shorey sold methamphetamine that was very close to being 100% pure.
Shorey Told the Officers She Carried Firearms for Protection
Shorey told them that she brought a gun with her to protect herself when she met new drug users during one of those busy times. Then she took the gun out of the bag and put it in her belt.
During a different conversation, she told the agents that it would be safe to meet her for their next deal because she would “bring one armed man to back me up that they will never see, just in case.”
