An Oyster Bay, LI, lady killed early Saturday morning when she “exited” a moving car on the Long Island Expressway.
According to a press statement from the NYPD, authorities are still hunting for the vehicle and driver that hit Priyanka Sewhani on West View Drive by accident.
At 1:38 a.m., Flushing police responded to a 911 call reporting a pedestrian struck in one of the eastbound lanes near Main Street.
A preliminary inquiry revealed that Sewhani was riding in a 2019 Volkswagen Passat operated by a 45-year-old male. According to reports, he is an Uber driver who remained at the site. When the door opened, the vehicle was already moving. Sewhani was hit in the left lane. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to some stories, it is unclear why Sewhani wanted to leave the automobile, and the motorist who struck her may have been ignorant that someone had been hit. The NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad is still looking into the case.
