Letter: I am proud that Maine did not vote for Donald Trump

Letter I am proud that Maine did not vote for Donald Trump.

Maine’s electoral votes were officially headed to Washington, D.C., this week, after all ballots were counted. Three electoral votes will go to Kamala Harris, while only one will be recorded in history for Donald Trump.

This says something about the majority of Maine voters. That is something I am proud of and reassured by. The majority of Maine voters did not believe Trump’s lies and false promises.

The majority saw through his “us against them” rhetoric. Maine voters looked at well-documented information that refuted several of his frequently repeated claims about immigrants, the causes of high prices and interest rates, statistics on violence in America, healthcare promises, and so on.

So there was no mandate for Trump in Maine. A majority of Maine voters did not believe his lies or false promises. We, as a state, can be proud of this, and we as Kamala voters can know that although the big picture did not show it, Maine voters stood tall.

Mainers voted for hope, solidarity, women’s rights, law and order, freedoms of speech and press, and truths. Yes, we did good. Proud of my home state.
