JSO: Woman shot and hospitalized after two men 'forced entry' into her Southside house

As a result of being shot in the abdomen inside of her home on Jacksonville’s Southside, a woman in her late 40s was taken to the hospital on Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Regarding the woman who was shot, officers arrived to Vista Bay Apartment Homes, which is situated at 8715 Belle Rive Blvd., at approximately two in the morning, according to Sergeant Scott of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman was transported to a nearby hospital when the police arrived, and according to the JSO, she is presently listed as being in a state that is not considered to be life-threatening.

“The initial investigation has revealed the suspects forced entry into the victim’s residence, which resulted in an exchange of gunfire, leading to the victim being shot,” Scott told the news organization First Coast News.

It was said by Scott that there were two persons inside the apartment unit in addition to two suspects, and that the sheriff’s office does not believe that the suspects and victims are acquainted with each other “at this point.” Scott claims that only one of the victims was shot, especially considering that there have been no arrests made as of yet.
