Investigators suspect Cassville, Mo., doctor staged his death; family refutes findings

People are trying again to find the truth.

Dr. John Forsyth’s family says that even though the medical examiner said he killed himself, what happened? They think the person who killed him is still out there.

The medical examiner’s final report about Dr. Forsyth’s death came out a few months ago, and it brought up more questions. His family just put out a number of videos on social media that question the results. They wouldn’t talk to us about it on camera.

The sheriff in Benton County, on the other hand, says the case is over for now.

Josh Robinson, the district attorney for Benton County, Arkansas, said, “There are a lot of strange things about this case.”

The last time Dr. John Forsyth was seen was in May 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Cassville, Missouri. Kayak riders 45 miles away, after nine days, found his body in Benton County, Arkansas. Police say that Forsyth rode a bike from a park to Beaver Lake’s Lost Bridge area. He was caught on camera riding his bike. The bike was found next to his body by the police.

Robinson said, “This was the only case I’ve ever worked on where every new piece of information raised more questions than it answered for weeks and weeks and weeks.”

He says there is proof that the 49-year-old killed himself, even though the gun was never found.

“Probably the best way to sum it up without putting words in the investigators’ mouths is that there wasn’t enough evidence that pointed to [A] a murder and [B] the person who killed that person,” he said.

The medical examiner’s report says that Forsyth was discovered with two pieces of duct tape over his mouth and no signs of a fight.

“The crime scene and the way the body is dressed definitely look like they were staged.” Robinson said, “If it’s not a murder, it looks like it was staged.” “To be honest, there are some strange things about how the body was found, even if it was a murder.”

At one point, police did talk to Forsyth’s brother Richard about his death. Last fall, Elizabeth Van Metre talked to him about it.

“I’m not hiding anything.” I’m not worried or curious about what the investigation might find out about me. I really want the investigation to find out what really happened with my brother, who did it, and why. I know the truth, though. “I have nothing to do with any of this,” Richard Forsyth said.

The case has been ended by the sheriff’s office because the medical examiner found that Forsyth killed himself.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if, later on, new information came out that proved it was a murder and gave us proof to move forward.” “A medical examiner is telling us right now that it was a suicide,” Robinson said.

He does say that this case could change at any time, though.

“Any investigation that has been closed can be reopened if new evidence comes forward that shows a different conclusion,” he said. “I think that will happen in this case as well.”
