Grammy-winning US rapper Lil Durk has been jailed on a charge of murder-for-hire.
The star, whose real name is Durk Devontay Banks, was caught in Broward County, Florida, on Thursday night and is being held without bail, according to US media.
Five members of Banks’ hip-hop group, Only The Family (OTF), were charged in Chicago the day before the arrest in connection with a killing in 2022 that killed the cousin of rival rapper Quando Rondo.
Recently, Lil Durk’s albums have been in the top five of the US Billboard chart six times. He has also worked with big names like Drake and J. Cole on hit songs.

The 33-year-old from Chicago has been nominated for four Grammy Awards. In February, his song “All My Life” with J. Cole won the award for best lyrical rap performance.
In 2010, Lil Durk started OTF. The group is the most important part of the city’s drill rap scene.
US news outlets say that the five men charged on Wednesday planned the shooting in Los Angeles in 2022 as direct revenge for the death of OTF-signed rapper King Von in 2020.
A friend of As time went on, the charges against Quando Rondo for killing King Von were dropped. There were no arrests or charges against Quando Rondo.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the new charges against the five men say that one of them worked with another person who offered “money and lucrative music opportunities with OTF” to anyone who helped kill Quando Rondo.
Some of the men on trial are said to have fired at a car carrying Quando Rondo, his sister, and his niece Saviay’a Robinson in 2022.
Robinson died, but Quando Rondo and his sister were not hurt.
This month, the mother of another Chicago rapper, FBG Duck, allegedly sued Lil Durk, OTF, and King Von, saying they were involved in killing her son in 2020.
Also, Lil Durk had charges of attempted murder dropped two years ago after a shooting in Atlanta in 2019 that did not result in death.
