The crash occurred just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27 in Freeport.
According to authorities, the 51-year-old woman was crossing Merrick Road near Henry Street from north to south when she was struck by a 2008 Volkswagen driving east.
She suffered head and body trauma and was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:33 p.m., according to authorities.
On Thursday afternoon, Nov. 28, Nassau County Police identified the lady as Lourdes Sulfa Sanchez, 51, of Lindenhurst.
The 62-year-old driver of the Volkswagen remained at the site.
The investigation is underway.
