Human remains discovered in Jay following a tip on Kimberly Moreau's disappearance

Police in Jay are looking into the finding of human remains in the woods near Elm Street. The find has raised hopes that new information may help in the search for Kimberly Moreau, who has been missing for 38 years.

Richard Moreau, Kimberly’s father, got a tip that led to the bodies being found. He thinks they might have something to do with his daughter going missing. The Maine State Police say Kimberly Moreau was last seen in Jay just before midnight on May 9, 1986. She was with someone she met earlier that day, but no one has seen her since.

“I’m just tired of waiting, but I’ve been waiting for 38 years,” he said. “But I’m also looking at it this way: we now know that it is human, and at least one family is going to get an answer.”

Her family said that Kimberly told her sister she was going out with friends and would be back around 11 p.m. After that, someone saw her getting into a white late-model Monte Carlo or Trans Am with a 25-year-old man and a friend. In the past, Kimberly’s family said that her friend knew the man.

A friend also said that Kimberly was dropped off early the next morning on Jewell Street, which is only two streets away from where her body was found Saturday morning behind a building in the woods. People who live in the area say the house used to be a bowling alley.

Even though the authorities haven’t confirmed who the bodies belong to yet, Richard Moreau is hopeful that this new information will finally give his family peace of mind after almost forty years of looking for answers.
