The Hudson and River Falls Marching Bands put on Rhythm By The River 2024 together on Saturday night at Raider Stadium. Bands from all over Wisconsin and Minnesota performed with props and covers of famous songs.
As is usual for the event, River Falls and Hudson High Schools played music to finish off the show. There were songs by Sam Smith (The Lighthouse Keeper) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (How Far I’ll Go) in River Falls’s performance this year. It was called “Endless Blue.”
Hudson then ended the night with “The Hypar Effect.” Hudson played three songs this year, and all of them were written by John Meehan.
Not only did the Raiders and Wildcats not compete, but so did the other schools that were there to fight for prizes. It was Baldwin-Woodville (Wis.) that won the most awards: Outstanding Percussion (Class A/AA), Outstanding Colour Guard (Class A/AA), Best Musical Performance (Class A/AA), and Best Visual Representation (Class A/AA).
Great Colour Guard Class (Class AAA), Best Musical Performance (Class AAA), and Best Visual Representation (Class AAA) were all won by Farmington. Hastings won the award for Outstanding Percussion (Class AAA).
The marching bands from Durand-Arkansaw (Wis.) and Sparta (Wis.) High Schools are both new to the event and are playing for the first time.
