Green Bay Democrats, Republicans react to Presidential Debate

The first and maybe only presidential discussion between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump is over.

  • Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump debated for the first time, with Wisconsin being a key battleground
  • Democratic Party of Wisconsin chair Ben Wikler said Harris outshined Trump during the debate
  • Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney criticized Harris for not addressing Trump’s questions directly

The first discussion between Vice President Harris and former President Trump was a night that everyone in the country had been looking forward to.

In Wisconsin, the polls show that the difference between the candidates and their parties is very small. This argument was even more important.

The head of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, Ben Wikler, said that Vice President Harris did better in the discussion than Trump.

“After tonight, I don’t think Trump will want to take part in any more debates.” “Having 90 minutes where the whole country is focused on this and everything that comes out of it, with moments that could go viral and spread for months, that could be a turning point,” Wikler said.

But Eric Toney, the district attorney for Fond du Lac County, thought Harris couldn’t answer Trump’s questions.

“People asked her about her rules and why she keeps changing them. She could only say that her beliefs haven’t changed. Toney said, “She’s not answering those specific questions, and the American people deserve those answers.”

There are just over 50 days left until the election for president, and both parties say they’ll do everything they can to help their candidate win Wisconsin.
